Somewhere Below the Line… — Dennis Leon [DENLEO.1]

A pastel landscape of grass-covered hills framing a rocky outcropping, with a striped survey barrier visible in the gap between them. Leon inscribed the sheet directly with handwritten text, including the phrase that gives the work its title — “somewhere below this line the experience tapers off” — along with a date reading January 1977 and what appears to be a series number. The pairing of observed landscape with inscribed language is consistent with Leon’s practice in this period, when pastel and charcoal drawings ran alongside his outdoor site installations and frequently incorporated text directly into the image.

Foot – Poster for the Olympic Games in Munich — Tom Wesselmann [TOMWES.1]

Pop artist Tom Wesselmann's contribution to the official poster series for the 1972 Munich Summer Olympics, one of a program of posters commissioned from internationally known artists. Wesselmann's design reduces a runner's foot to large flat fields of color against solid green, with the Olympic rings in the lower corner, signed in the plate and dated variously 1970 (design) and 1972 (the Games).
